Katia was born in Macapá, Brazil, a town that straddles not just the equator but is a gateway to the Amazon forest and river. The region’s rich folklore, abundant nature, and natural medicines still play a large part in how Katia views the world.
Moving around and growing up in multicultural Brazil, Katia was influenced by both the indigenous cultures of the Amazon and the many modern cultures of settlers from South America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.
Katia’s use of colours and textures often stems from her experiences during this part of her life.
