  • If you do not understand Brazilian Portuguese, please note: this post is about the 2026 Brazilian Presidential elections set for the Sundays on October 4 and in case of a second round also on the 25th of 2026 both dates from 8am to 5pm (local time).
    Also to note, according to the Brazilian law, citizens between the ages of 18 and 70 years old are required to vote, in case you are not able to vote, you need to justify your voting absence.

Per term for all ages: $140 for BCA members or $160 for Non-members

TEACHERS & INSTRUCTORS: Our Portuguese teacher is a qualified instructor, and we also have a qualified volunteer to help during classes; some cultural component is included with selected qualified instructors.OVERVIEW: The language instruction involves listening, speaking, and reading, and writing depending on the child’s readiness. Lessons are phonics and didactic resources are used. At the classroom we have a time for story telling, and at this time the kids may want to eat a snack. After this activity we offer a cultural activity, as for instance: capoeira, music and arts.

There are two books adopted in the classroom to help with the teaching and learning:
  1. ‘Kit Papagaio” = ages 4 to 6
  2. Brasileirino: Português para crianças e pré-adolescentes =  aged 7+
The books are available for purchasing at $25 each, please let us know if you are interested to buy the book or use the ones we provide during the classes. If you buy the book, and want to return it at the end of the school year, if it is in good condition to be used by another student, we can consider a refund of your payment.

NEW Program for teenagers / ‘adolescentes’ based on Brazilian Themes / ‘programa temático sobre o Brasil’

The dates, times, location and tuition are the same as presented here. Some input from parents and kids will be considered focusing on Brazilian issues including history, as well as geography and social studies.
If you are interested to take part in this new program please let us know for a separate follow-up.

Samuel Samways is a Brazilian artist with 17 years of experience in partner dancing. His research extends to acrobatic movements, floorwork, capoeira, contemporary dance, contact improvisation & the fusion of Latin American social dances, with an emphasis on Brazilian Zouk, Tango, Forró and Samba.

Em 20 de agosto deste ano tomamos conhecimento por anúncios na social media desta data em diante se torno possível para cidadãos brasileiros obterem visto de entrada no Brasil em passaporte canadense. BRASILEIROS BINACIONAIS – VIAGEM AO BRASIL COM PASSAPORTE ESTRANGEIRO

Desde 20 de agosto de 2026, os consulados brasileiros estão autorizados a emitir visto em passaporte estrangeiro de brasileiros com dupla nacionalidade. A medida também se aplica a pedidos de visto eletrônico para brasileiros com cidadania canadense.
Para aqueles que possuem passaporte da Austrália, Canadá ou Estados Unidos, o visto eletrônico pode ser solicitado eletronicamente por meio do seguinte endereço: https://brazil.vfsevisa.com/.
A viagem ao Brasil de menores brasileiros com dupla cidadania com passaporte canadense, desacompanhados ou acompanhados de apenas um dos responsáveis legais,  NÃO DISPENSA a Autorização de Viagem para Menores. 

A questão agora é avaliar os prós e cons de cada situação e quando esta nova possibilidade pode oferecer algum beneficio.

Aqui seguem pontos para consideração se precisar tomar uma decisão.

  • Preços e validade:
    • visto brasileiro: US$ 80 com validade de 5 anos
    • passaporte brasileiro de adultos: $90 com validade de 10 anos
  • A autorização de viagem para menores numa situaçao de:
    • vistos:  deve ser assinada perante notary public ou advogado o que geralmente implica em um custo
    • passaporte brasileiro: assinado no consulado em Vancouver ou no honorário gratuitamente
  • Processamento de documentos:
    • visto brasileiro em passaporte canadense é inteiramente ‘online’ sem necessidade de envio de documentos originais pelo correio
    • passaporte brasileiro: presencial no consulado de Vancouver, ou quando à distância envio pelo correio de documentos ORIGINAIS
  • Tempo de processamento:
    • visto: tempo máximo 5 dias
    • passaporte brasileiro de até 20 dias úteis
  • Outros:
    • Oportunidade disponibilizada àqueles com documentos brasileiros pendentes que impedem obter um passaporte novo de viajarem ao Brasil quando quiserem e/ou precisarem visitar seus queridos, ou mesmo resolver questões pendentes entre outras razões.
