Band ROCKIES BRAZIL

Meet Rockies Brazil, a fresh take on classic Brazilian rock and pop in Calgary. Featuring J. de Freitas on vocals, Rodrigo Scauri on Bass, Edylle Landy on guitar, Mirelly Lippel on keys and Giulliano Settim on drums, they bring the best of the 80’s and 90’s Brazilian Rock and Pop!
José de Freitas
Vocals
Born and raised in Fortaleza, Ceará, grew up on the nostalgic hum of vinyl from his parents’ collection. Immersed in the 80s soundscape, Jose draws inspiration from bands and singers from the 80s and 90s.
Having started playing guitar and singing in his teenage years, Jose was part of various bands in his hometown until the beginning of his adult life.
Today, he is rediscovering music, returning to his roots.
Rodrigo Scauri
Bass Guitar
From Vitoria, Espírito Santo, Rodrigo is a skilled and versatile amateur musician who enjoys playing a variety of instruments and styles.
From bass to electric and acoustic guitars and keyboard instruments, he has a wide range of musical interests and abilities.
He’s always up for a jam session and brings a fun and dynamic energy to his performances.
Edylle Landy
Lead Guitar
Edylle grew up listening mostly to rock, classical and MPB music.
When he was about 8 years old, he listened to Queen for the first time and fell in love with the sound of
Brian May’s guitar. Since then he knew what instrument he wanted to play.
He was born in the 80s and is very excited to bring the songs from his time to the masses.
Mirelly Lippel
Keyboards
Born in Campinas, SP, she immigrated to Canada in 2018.
Mirelly has loved music since she was a child, at the age of 12 she started writing songs, playing the organ in an orchestra, while also teaching piano and music theory.
As pianist/multi-instrumentalist, Mirelly loves a variety of musical genres, including rock, pop and Brazilian popular music.
Giulliano Settim
Drums
From Curitiba, Paraná, Giulliano’s passion for music started at early age. At first playing organ at age of 7, then piano for 3 years, when decided to switch to drums, which have been playing ever since, in different genres such as metal, hard rock, blues, soul, samba and reggae. Living in Calgary since 2015,
Giulliano is an avid Coritiba and Flames supporter, loves Brazilian music and is eager to play it!
Rodolfo Dantas
Voice & Guitar 8 to 9:30pm
Rodolfo Dantas is from São José dos Campos, São Paulo. He started his music performances at receptions, bars and weddings at age 11, and since then never stopped. He enjoys talking about Brazilian Music at schools and also teaches some kids songs. He played Brazilian music while living in Winnipeg before moving to Calgary. Playing MPB Brazilian Popular Music at BrazilFest 2023
